About Jenna
Professional Biography
Jenna graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder in 2001 with a BA in Molecular Biology and a minor in Biochemistry, and a BA in Psychology. She earned magna cum laude honors for her research studying the neural pathways involved in learned helplessness in rats. Her work was published in the peer reviewed journal Brain Research.
She earned her MD from Jefferson Medical College in 2005 and completed her residency at the University of California, San Diego. After training, the mountains brought her back to Colorado, where she joined an Emergency Medicine group covering the HealthONE Emergency Departments in Denver. Her 11 years in clinical medicine gave her an unmatched breadth of knowledge and experience in acute high stakes clinical decision making, as well as a firsthand view of the bureaucratic realities of practicing within one of the nation’s largest healthcare systems.
The business side of medicine became increasingly intrusive. Market-driven initiatives, performance metrics at odds with best practice, and administrative pressures left her feeling misaligned. When several personal and professional factors converged at once, a break to catch her breath became a permanent career pivot.
The pivot led her to High Tech Health, an infrared sauna company in Boulder, Colorado with an evidence-based approach to the wellness industry. She served as medical communicator for over 6 years, becoming a leading expert in the science of heat therapy. She read hundreds of studies on the science of all things related to heat therapy, and summarized the evidence in product reports and professional papers, SEO optimized website copy, and consumer education material. Her work spanned mechanisms of action, protocols, variables influencing outcomes, safety and risk profiles, and accessible explanations for the public. She appeared as a guest expert on wellness-industry podcasts including the Dr. Joseph Mercola podcast.
As a Medical Writer, Jenna brings a unique perspective that bridges mainstream medicine and evidence-based wellness. Her clinical training, combined with years as an expert in preventive heath and wellness, allows her to move fluidly between two worlds that are often at odds. She writes with clarity, confidence, and credibility for clinicians, health brands, and everyday readers alike.
