After her medical training, Jenna took a job with an emergency medicine group in Denver. For the next eight years, she worked as a physician in emergency departments across Denver, with all the ups and downs that came with that life. After eight years, she found herself in a place where she needed to make a huge life decision. She took some time off from practice, and in the end decided to pivot.

She took a position as Medical Director with a health technology company in Boulder. She wore several hats here, but primarily she did huge amounts of literature review and writing in all formats and for all audiences. Writing formal research papers for product development, conferences, profession affiliates, consumer education, and wrote or oversaw all website medical content and marketing material.

She sharpened and refined her research and writing skills, and gained a huge amount of knowledge in the area of heat and photobiology. And after seven years, it was time for another pivot.

And she is thoroughly enjoying the current “pivot.” Most recently she has been working short term projects for technology companies. She loves learning, and is inspired by having possibilities around and in front of her.

Jenna went to the University of Colorado at Boulder, in Boulder CO, for undergraduate studies, and graduated magna cum laude with double majors in psychology and molecular, cellular, and developmental biology, and a minor in biochemistry. This is where she fell in love with the mountains and Colorado, and where she would ultimately return.

She got her MD from Jefferson Medical School in Philadelphia, PA, then moved to the opposite corner of the country to do her pediatric residency at the University of California at San Diego. She trained at Rady Children’s Hospital, a busy regional pediatric center where residents encountered everything from common childhood illnesses to rare conditions they might never see again in their careers.

Living on the beach in San Diego was also an experience, for the few hours here and there she got to spend outside the hospital. She owned a surf board, and narrowly escaped death on it, just once or twice. But she missed the mountains, and when she finished medical training she took a job back in Colorado.
