<image:title>Technical Writing - Red Light Therapy (Photobiomodulation) - This is a short excerpt taken from an approximately 30-page evidence synthesis on Red Light Therapy (RLT). The assignment was to find and evaluate the latest research, and summarize key findings in a technical report for the CEO, product-development team and sales team. The goal was to provide enough scientific and clinical context to support early planning for a potential new product line.</image:title>
<image:caption>RLT was related to our area of focus, but has many differences including entirely different mechanisms. So this was essentially a new field for me. The paper in its entirety covered mechanisms, factors affecting outcomes (wavelength, power, distance, etc), evidence of efficacy and for what indications, using what protocols, device manufacturers and specifications, and side effects.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Depth of penetration receives considerable attention in consumer marketing, often accompanied by the assumption that “deeper is better.” Frequently repeated claims that red or near-infrared light penetrates two to four inches into tissue are difficult to reconcile with optical-tissue research.</image:caption>

<image:caption>when your fever is rising, your hypothalamus thinks you are hypothermic. If the set point is 102ºF, anything below that, you will feel cold and be shivering under blankets. And this is why when the fever “breaks,” and the set point drops back to normal, suddenly you are throwing the 10 blankets off and sweating profusely.</image:caption>
